Company History
Containments Systems, Inc (CSI) was founded in March, 1988. The company is primarily involved in the design, engineering and manufacturing of large structural fiberglass and reinfoirced plastic collection systems used by chemical and industrial facilities to protect the environment; and large firberglass reinforced plastic covering systems used by marine, railroad and wastewater treatment applications. CSI possesses the technology and plant capacity to produce high-quality specialty fiberglass products to a wie variety of markets. CSI staff has over 40 years of combined experience in the reinforced plastics industry.
Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) is a relatively new engineering material as compared to wood, steel, and concrete. In World War II, fiberglass was used as a construction material to rebuild ra-domes, aircraft parts, submarine parts, and marine craft. The material was found to be very durable, light weight, corrosion-resistant, and non-magnetic, of notable importance in the construction of Navy Mine Sweepers.
In the mid 1960’s, the recreational boating industry started using fiberglass for boat hull construction, and since that time, fiberglass has found its way into almost every aspect of our lives. From the bathroom sink and shower stall to the interior and exterior of our automobile, fiberglass reinforced plastics is all around us.
As research continued and fiberglass materials became stronger and easier to work with, they found their way into the industrial, chemical, and transportation industry. Large complex-shaped products were designed and technology developed to build these products. A whole new industry evolved which specialized in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of large structural fiberglass reinforced plastic products. Containment Systems, Inc. is one of these specialized companies, which has the technical capabilities and manufacturing expertise necessary to build large, industrial fiberglass products.
Our products have included in addition to track collector pans systems, barge covers – for the marine industry, railcar covers, environmental covering systems and in-ground tornado shelters for residential use.
